Senior Software Engineer Perception, ML Infrastructure - Nuro

The company’s core technology is the Nuro Driver, an integrated autonomous driving system consisting of state-of-the-art, AI-first software and custom-built sense and compute hardware. About the Role

The Behavior ML Infrastructure team is responsible for building & improving the core infrastructure for behavior teams at Nuro. This includes, but is not limited to, model training pipelines, onboard inference & optimizations, data & feature pipelines, Reinforcement Learning (RL) infrastructure and overall developer productivity & best practices. 

In this role, you will work closely with teams across Nuro, to design, build and deploy core infrastructure components in machine learning model life cycle, to push the autonomous future forward. You will have an opportunity to work across the full stack of machine learning solutions - from designing robust and scalable data pipelines, building models to deploying the optimized models on Nuro’s fleet of self-driving robots!

About the Work

• Responsible for building frameworks and interfaces to accelerate machine learning development and maximize the utilization of hardware capabilities.
• for the tools and processes that make ML development efficient and effective, including data, training, inference, evaluation, and debugging
• Enable scaling of the ML platform to support industry trends towards foundation models
• Work fast and smart, and collaborate well with ML engineers

About You

• Minimum 2 years of experience in ML infrastructure or large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience in at least one of the 3 areas below
• Familiar with perception/ml basics or an interest in understanding the challenges of Perception ML
• Proficiency in C++ or Python
• You have obtained a PhD, MS, BS or have equivalent industry experience
• You have a knack and real passion for searching and solving hard problems
• You are passionate about accelerating the benefits of robotics for everyday life

Bonus points

• Stay up-to-date with the latest data-driven approaches, and be able to apply them to the autonomous driving problem
• Experience with ML (especially with TensorFlow) modeling and infrastructure
• Experience working on autonomous robot systems

At Nuro, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. For this position, the reasonably expected base pay range is between $167,200 and $250,800 for the level at which this job has been scoped. Your base pay will depend on several factors, including your experience, qualifications, education, location, and skills. In the event that you are considered for a different level, a higher or lower pay range would apply. This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus, equity, and a competitive benefits package.
