Software Engineer, Observability - Vercel

About the role:

You will be a part of the Monitoring Team, where we focus on providing meaningful insights and alerting our end-users to make improvements and enjoy seamless usage. You will be responsible for the overall development and implementation of front and back-end software applications. Your responsibilities will extend from designing system architecture to high-level programming, performance testing, and system integration.

What you will do:

• Meet with the team to define software project scope, scale, and architecture, while designing and building a robust observability infrastructure to conquer scale and cost challenges for our enterprise clientele.
• Participate in rotating on-call incident response on the weekdays and on the weekends.
• Design and implement scalable web services, applications, and APIs.
• Educate and lead efforts to improve observability among all customers.
• Implement best practices for metrics, logging and distributed tracing pillars of Observability.
• Collect, aggregate, and visualize the metrics to provide actionable insight.
• Identify bottlenecks and improve software efficiency.

About you:

• You have at least 5+ years of experience in full stack engineering.
• You have designed, automated and optimized observability platforms logging, metric and tracing.
• You are proficient in programming languages relevant to Vercel's technology stack, including TypeScript, Node.js, Go, or others.
• You are knowledgeable when it comes to DevOps practices, CI/CD processes, and deployment automation.
• Strong skills to identify and resolve issues in a distributed system.
• Strong communicator, both written and verbal

The San Francisco, CA base pay range for this role is $200,000.00 to $240,000.00. This salary range is an estimate. Actual salary will be based on job related skills, experience and location. Pay ranges outside San Francisco may be  adjusted based on employee location.  The total compensation package also includes benefits and equity-based compensation.
